Pholidota imbricata (Scientific name)
This is an epiphytic orchid, also known as Moti har due to shape of its inflorescence just like a necklace of pearls. It is occasionally found in moist deciduous and evergreen forests. Pseudo bulb, a thickened part of the stem just at the base of the leaves, has shape like guava and is a clear identifying character if orchid is not flowering. It retains leaves throughout the year. This orchid is at risk due to its exploitation for its ornamental value. Let’s not pluck or buy such precious orchids, which are valuable part of the ecosystem.
