July - 2015

Dear Nature Lovers,
Greetings from oikos !

In any given landscape, great variety of grass species can be seen.
These grass species also change as per the habitat.
For example, certain species are found only in shady places,
or certain are associated with stream banks or wet places.
They also show association with certain special insects or tiny wildlife.
It is necessary to conserve these grasses along with their habitats.

One of such species is Eragrostis japonica,
seen occasionally all over Maharashtra and even India.
Sometimes it also grows as weed in cultivated lands.
It is also a good fodder species and is lactation stimulant for animals.

Regards,
Ketaki & Manasi.
